Last year the waters in the havelock north and Hastings regions water were full of ecoli and soooooooo many people got super sick,  this was because there were cracks in the water bores and the rains washed all the poop into the bores. 50 years ago (arording to my teacher) the Tuki Tuki river was clean, clear and PERFECT for swimming, nowadays the Tuki Tuki is full of Algae.  Algae grow  when they have the right conditions such as adequate nutrients (mostly phosphorus but nitrogen is important too), light levels, pH, temperature, etc. Generally the amount of phosphorus controls the amount of  algae  found in a freshwater lake or water body.  Since 2008 Hawke’s Bay Regional Council has been working on a range of plans and actions in the catchment to provide positive environmental, social, cultural and economic outcomes for the region, now and into the future. Algae can also be formed my animals crossing river and doing there bisneuss. (taking poops) ...

Problem: The Get Ready Get Thru website states that we need an Emergency Survival kit and top of the list is a torch and spare batteries even though the video on the red cross states that we start with the most important thing WATER LINK: Click ME In tech I'm gonna design (even though it's already designed) and make an Emergency light for myself.

On Thursday week 4 we went on a trip to a furniture company called Furnware. The topic was Innovation. We learnt about when it started which was in 1934 and we learnt how we can Innovate in our life. We got to see all the workers in the factory there were a lot I will try my hardest to remember them; there was a man who handled all of the liquids and washing the metals in them there was a man who sprayed the washed metals with powder, there was a few people who would assist the welding robots and there was a dude who would help the machine that put the plastic edges on the tables.

In writing our focus is paragraphs we learnt about where we put them and why we put them in. We put them in when; there is a change in the dialog speaker, when the topic is changed, when the location is changed and when the time is changed. Mr. B made us do a 15 minute quick write focusing on paragraphs. Here is mine: The ball of light slowly rose up from the horizon, beams of light arose from its core.  “It's so beautiful,” I spoke, destroying the silence. “Yeah, it is.” Replied Reverse Giraffe; he was the  only intelligent giraffe with a long body and short legs. By the time the campfire went out the sun was fully up and in the sky. In food tech this term we where working on our Mama Mia Pizza! It is a very healthly food pizza for your family, it took quite a while to make them because we had to do so much planning. We planned out what ingredients we need and then we drew the design. It took 4-6 weeks of planning and 1 day to create, we had a cooking partner and mine was Calvin. Our pizza was a duck! We used scon dough for the dough, and garlic pizza sauce for the sauce!! We put so much hard work and slave labour into making these.. This is us making the pizza! This is us making the pizza still but its a lot further on. This Is the complete Pizza with the drawings!!! This is us doing our Pizza pose!!!

In writing we were given a task for the first time I saw... First we had a mambuger plan (wich is pretty must a writing plan that looks like the layers on a hamburger) then we wrote the story on a google doc. Here is the story: First Time I Saw ... Left hand, right hand, left foot, right foot. A few black rocks fell down and hit me on the head, the heat was unbearable. I got to the top finally, the mountan was beginning to erupt. THERE IT WAS, WINGS SPEARED UP LIKE A t, THE MAJESTIC ANIMAL WAS ABOUT TO DO IT, THIS WAS THE MOMENT, THIS WAS THE REASON I CAME ALL THIS WAY… IT JUMPED, BUT IT DID NOT FLY, it was falling! I had to do something! I jumpED and caUGHT the stubby little this and curled it in my arms.  IT LOOKED AT ME AS IF TO SAY ‘THX BRAH U R A TRUE HUMMIE,’ THEN I SET IT FREE AND IT FLEW AWAY… SO BEAUTIFUL… BTW IT’S A DO-DO

Workspace (also known as Hapara) is a helpful website were teachers can create 'workspaces' then they can add seperate tasks in those workspaces. It is a dashboard for students and teachers, Teachers can also view our email history, see our websites that we are on, see our blog posts and pretty much see our screen 24/7 via workspace. It is super easy to use and once we have finished our tasks we can submit them and that sends an email to the teacher that sent out the task to view our work and see if its good enough. If it is they will mark it, if it isn't they can send it back to us. Overall workspace is super easy to use and this is a photo of it.

In writing we have been focusing on character trait descriptions, we would be given 2 character traits to write about. Since writing is my favorate subject they where really fun to do. After we wrote 2 we could choose a character trait ourselves. The ones I had were happiness and anger, I also did sadness. Your first character trait description is about ANGER Write here:  His Face turned red, steam wafting out of his ears like a boiling pot. A small vein at the top of his bald head began to throb, his bushy eyebrows sloped down. He spoke “I'M SICK OF THIS! YOU CAN'T KEEP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO OVER AND OVER!! This term Mr B read us a book called 'The Boy In The Girls Bathroom' I know what an amazing and kid-friendly name. It is about a kid named Bradley Chalkers and he starts off a really mean bully but when a school councillor comes to his school she flips his life round the other way. After we read the book Mr. Billings sent us a task. Here is the task. 

Maths Buddy Is an online maths website, Mr. Billings can set us assignments and tasks, we only have 7 days to complete the tasks and that can be challenging when you have 10 tasks and 7 days to complete them. It is challenging because in each tast there is 1-10 smaller tasks inside them. The only bad thing is that Mr. Billings cannot see the tasks before he sends them(he really hates that). This is the logo. It is awesome and it has some fun and educational mini games like 'Speed Skills' we use that a lot, Times Tables and Swap The Pieces. My favorite is speed skills beacause we get banqer money every time we beat our highscore. All-in-all maths buddy is way more fun than matific with was an old online maths app that we used at Clive school. Maths buddy used to seem easy but now it can be challenging and fun, we have been using maths buddy from week 1.

This week we did some painting, we were inspired by the art exhibition in hastings and the napier museum. Mine was inspired from a piece called Evening Lights In Central Hawkes Bay, by L. Wilson. This Is my piece It was super fun to paint it and if you are going to the art exhibition on Thursday the 6th of April you can get a better look at this piece.

In Maths we have been focusing on measurement. Apart from maths buddy we made house designs. There were 4 stages; Easy (Rectangles, Medium (rectangles and triangles), Average (Rectangles, triangles and compound shapes) and Beond average (  Rectangles, triangles, compound shapes and circles). I did beond average, we would draw out all of the shapes then label them after that we would work out the area of each shape and show our thinking on a separate peice of paper then we would add up all of the awnsers and wright down the finishing result.

Once every week a lady named Tracey comes to most classroom to teach Mandarin AKA chinese. This week we made name cards. We would write our names in Chinese then write them in english. Here is a photo of mine!

Stabby Art. This Week (week 5) We Have Been Doing Art. We Like To Call It Stabby New Zealand Stuff, To Start We Found Something That Had To Do With New Zealand And We Wrote It On The Board. Then We Would Pick One Of The Words On The Board To Make The Stabby Art With. One Of The Words Was Tui, Calvin And I Thought It Was The Beer And The Bird So We Started Out Doing The Beer Then Mr. B  Claimed That It Was Only The Bird. We Had Done So Much So Mr. B (being is bald and kind self) Let Us Use It. The Stabby Part Took quite A Long Time And Was Hard On your hand But We Finished. Here Is A Picture Of Mine! Its Backwards But Its Ok! :D Collage Art. We have aslo been doing some collage art, we would rip peaces of coloured paper up and paste them on a peice of paper. I did a duck, at the top of them we were supposed to put a word that described us... Since I did a duck I just wrote "quack". Its 11/10 in my ratings! We also did an acrostic poem of our names. A...

In maths we have been learning about measurement we had to designed and measured out the peremeder and shape of the catapult. After that we constructed the catapult using the plan. After we had constructed our catapult we had to test them. We went out onto the courts to test them we had to make a chart with 4 different objects and fire each object 3 times and measure the distant between the object and the catapult. This is my chart that I've converted from metres into centermetres.  The main use of the catapults was to use burning charcoal as amo and demonicly burn down hillary to the ground, but we dicided that that was most likely a bad use of charcoal since it it quite exspencive now days.  Here is a picture of my catapult.
